Who are we?

Catholic Church Television Australia (CCTVA) is an office with the Australian Catholic Office for Film & Broadcasting (ACOFB). It is answerable to the Australian Catholic Bishops Commission for Mission and Faith Formation. It is mandated to produce, schedule, administer and develop television programs for Aurora Community Television. Aurora is available to all digital subscribers at Channel 183 on Foxtel and Austar’s basic tier at no extra cost.

Launched on 1st March 2005, CCTVA seeks to serve practising Catholics, those estranged from the Church community, and all Australian women and men of good will. Presently the programming mix consists of a daily Mass for You At Home, primarily offered for Catholics who would like to participate in the Catholic Eucharist, but are precluded from doing so because of distance, illness, disability or age. Each week we offer a documentary film about the Church in Australia, an aspect of faith or spirituality, or an issue of social justice which the Church considers we could all think upon.

In worldwide terms CCTVA is a unique platform. There are 123 stations in the world within which the Catholic Church owns, has a controlling share, or a presence. Of these there is no other country in the world where the Church has pay-as-you-go access on a channel within the basic package of a major pay TV provider.
